Stephen Colbert announced to his fans that he will be competing in the OnDeck Charleston Bermuda Race. The race begins on May 11 and goes for 777 miles.

According to a report from MSNBC, Colbert and his crew will sail a 65-foot racing yacht for the 777-mile race. They will embark from his hometown of Charleston, South Carolina and go all the way to Bermuda.

The host of the The Colbert Report will be featuring the race on his show in typical dry Stephen Colbert comedic form. In fact, he has already issued a warning to the ocean on which he’ll sail.

“The ocean has had a free ride too long. Well, it has to deal with me now. Brace yourself, Atlantic!” he said.

It should be hilarious to hear what Stephen Colbert has to say about his impending voyage. His satirical way of viewing things is positively captivating and likely among the main lures for his audience.

This isn’t the first time Stephen Colbert has participated in this race. His first time was in 2005, right before his show began.

The OnDeck Charleston Bermuda Race is said to be “one of the most challenging races in the Western hemisphere.”

Stephen Colbert is a noted comedian, television host, political satirist and writer, best known for Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report. Soon he’ll add “twice accomplished” sailor–and perhaps even “winner” to his impressive repertoire.
