Sunday Writing Essential (05/25/14, Memories)
Today we are going to explore the concept of memories and point of view. Now we all have memorable experiences, and we colour these recollections through our own unique point of view.
The goal to this challenge is to put yourself in another person’s shoes, and then tell a story of one of your experiences through his or her eyes.
Here’s an example of what I mean:
Suppose you remember and argument between yourself and a sales clerk. You would now take that memory, and write the story from the clerk’s point of view. Why did that person argue with you? Maybe the sales person had a bad day, or hated their job. Maybe something you said set them off. Use the story to explore their side of the argument.
Of course, you’ll choose, and write about, your own particular remembrance.
Write a story or a poem in the form of one of your memories. The catch: you must write this memory from another person’s point of view.
