Newlyweds, rapper T.I. and his wife Tameka Cottle were arrested on Wednesday in West Hollywood, CA on what appears to be drug charges. Is Paris Hilton’s latest arrest for cocaine possession becoming contagious? Is this the beginning of a revolving door?
Authorities report that rapper T.I. whose real name is Clifford Harris, Jr., 29, and his wife, Tameka Cottle, 36, former member of 90’s girl R&B group, “Xscapeâ€, were pulled over by a deputy late last night for suspicion of marijuana. There goes that “vapor trail†again, made famous by Paris Hilton’s drug arrest and charge in Las Vegas.
Deputies, reportedly, smelled the odor of marijuana from the vehicle in which the couple was driving. This gave police probable cause to detain them until a narcotics investigation could take place.
That investigation confirmed the officer’s suspicions. Accordingly, T.I and his wife, Tameka Cottle were both arrested for drug charges.
The police department did not formally say what drugs they were being charged with, but given their suspicions of marijuana prior to the arrest, it is highly probable that is what the drug charges are.
The arrest of Grammy-award winning T.I. and his wife, Tameka “Tiny†Cottle comes on the heels of another high-profile arrest last week involving socialite Paris Hilton in Las Vegas.
The heir to the Hilton Empire was arrested and charged for possession of cocaine. She has since been banned from the very popular Wynn Casino for her behavior and drug charges.
T.I., who mixes his talent of rapping with acting, is to star in the anticipated film, “Takers†in which he plays a key role.
He did time in a federal prison, recently, on weapons charges, and vowed to turn his image around, and to be more of a role model.
Well, Mr. Clifford “T.I.†Harris, Jr., this is not the way to have the kids look up to you. Remember, Paris made a similar vow on “Larry King Live†after her release from jail several years ago?Â
How will this recent arrest play out for the people of California, most of who feel really passionate about legalizing marijuana? The proponents of legalizing the supposed drug, point to a growing body of evidence of medicinal uses. It is said to be a non-invasive way of treating chronic pain and other conditions where conventional treatments have failed.
What is the expectation about celebs, especially those at the top of the food chain?  All eyes are on them, and that’s not only from the fans. T.I. should have known that any slip-up would result in him being scrutinized in the meanest of fashions. With these recent drug charges, he starts the clock over again.
It’s one thing to smoke a little weed in the privacy of your own home (although, that’s illegal as well), but it is bordering on a“loose marbles†case to do it while driving. What’s more, both he and his wife are arrested and charged for the alleged dumb muck-up? What are T.I’s children thinking, all five of them?
