Target hopes to pull ahead of its rivals by offering unusual specialty shop products at all 1,800 stores as well as online. With a total of 400 new products over time, the special mini boutiques will begin on May 6th after a television and print campaign. Be on the lookout for these outstanding ads and the limited edition products that will be specifically tailored to Target customers’ needs and wants.
You will have to act quickly because the shops and the products will only be available for six weeks, closed, and replaced in the fall by others. There was so much hype last year about a limited and exclusive Missoni line of clothing that Target’s website crashed. Also in 2010, home accessories by Liberty of London sold out in just a few days.
Initially included will be hard-to-find sweets and candy from abroad from The Candy Store in San Francisco; designer clothing by The Webster House in Miami; vintage home accessories and furniture by The Privet House in Warren and Greenwich, Conn.; dog biscuits and other items from the Polka Dog Bakery in Boston; and beauty products and cosmetics by The Cos Bar in Aspen.
You will also be able to learn about the owners of the shops in documentaries on the Target website and find out their unique stories and how excited they are that their businesses will be instantly expanded with this national exposure.
