Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham admits she has given up custody of her daughter Sophia. Sophia is now in the custody of Farrah’s mother in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

According to a report from Life & Style Weekly, Farrah gave up custody of Sophia so she can attend school in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Might there not have been a better way for this Teen Mom to go back to school? Aren’t there any schools within a reasonable proximity to her mom’s home?

When these Teen Mom stars make the decision to have and keep their babies, they really need to understand that things aren’t always going to be easy. And if that means going to school in Iowa as opposed to going in the sun and fun in Fort Lauderdale, then so be it. Why should a child miss her mother simply because Mommy wants to go and play?

Sure, you can say that Farrah Abraham is bettering herself by going to school, but she doesn’t need to go that far away from her daughter. Before long, Sophia will think that her grandmother is her mom.

Farrah Abraham even admits it’s difficult deciding what to do once she finishes up school in Florida. Could she be thinking of leaving Sophia in her mom’s care permanently?

“I’m tugged in many different ways daily—but I don’t want to limit myself or Sophia,” she says.

Sophia won’t be limited by a mother who works hard and cares for her daughter. She will be limited, however, if Farrah Abraham chooses to pursue her career away from her child. Sophia could grow up forever feeling a sense of abandonment.

Just a few weeks ago, Farrah Abraham commented that she believed she was the most grown up of all the Teen Mom stars. Well, it’s time to grow up a bit more, Farrah, because this most recent decision appears both selfish and childish.
