The Titans are a team in transition this off-season. Jeff Fischer stepped down as head coach and last years starting quarterback Vince Young has been told he will be released or traded.
Tennessee should use their first round pick on a quarterback. The team should have several options, but that will leave the Titans needing to upgrade the offensive line to protect the new quarterback, whoever that may be.
The Titans struggled in the middle of the line last season and need to upgrade both guard positions. Look for Tennessee to fill that need in the second round. Here is a look at possible selections the Titans could make with the seventh overall selection in the second round.
G Benjamin Ijalana – Villanova. Despite playing on a sub-division level, Ijalana dominated his competition and has moved himself up in the draft with his overall size and strength. At 6’4” and 320 pounds, Ijalana is athletic enough to play guard or tackle, but with the need in the middle for Tennessee, it would appear he would play guard for the Titans.
G Rodney Hudson – Florida State. Hudson could be the best prospect at the guard position in this years draft. The only down side is his size, at just 288 pounds, Hudson will need to add some bulk. Rodney has great footwork and good overall strength, and would be a good fit for the Titans and the teams overall need at the offensive line.
