‘The Avengers’ 2 Sequel Movie Announced by Disney, No Release Date Yet

After the success of the first outing, it has been announced that The Avengers 2 movie will happen. While this probably doesn’t come as a surprise, the sequel movie release date and cast of characters probably will.

Avengers AssembleA report from MTV.com on Tuesday indicates that Disney announced a follow-up film is already in development. The news comes on the heels of a super-successful box office take by the group containing Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Captain America, and others. Joss Whedon was behind the project which was able to bring high entertainment value including non-stop action, laughs, and decent character development. Those characters included actors Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, and Mark Ruffalo.

As for an Avengers 2 release date, that is only being guessed at right now. Speculation at MTV puts the movie sequel out sometime in 2015, most likely May or summer time when big blockbusters tend to hit theaters. Before that group film arrives, superhero fans will be treated to Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and Captain America 2 in 2013 and 2014.

This is certainly not earth shattering news for many fans who stuck around to see the end credits of The Avengers from Marvel, as a potential new villain for the sequel was revealed. However, what will be interesting to see is what other aspects of the comic book series might be brought into this upcoming sequel. Will The Avengers team lose members from the first film, reunite them all, or add some more of the names seen in the comics to the next film? For now, comic book fans and those who wished The Avengers would keep going beyond its near 2 1/2 hour running time, can salivate over the possibilities!

Which characters would you want to see in an Avengers movie sequel?
