In The Big Bang Theory “Cohabitation Formulation,” Priya (Aarti Mann) returns, and sheÂ’s making Penny (Kaley Cuoco) jealous–something that ‘bestieÂ’ Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik) is only encouraging. ThatÂ’s not the only relationship drama either; Bernadette gives Howard an ultimatum. Will he choose his girlfriend, or his mother?
Howard needs comforting from his Big Bang Theory tertiary friend
Clearly, Howard (Simon Helberg) can’t do anything right. He fights with Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) about not staying the night, and then his mother gets mad at the late-night hours he keeps. “Sex criminals don’t have keys, Ma!” he declares.
Raj (Kunal Nayyar) already has his sister Priya staying the night, and so Howard heads to Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and SheldonÂ’s (Jim Parsons), where Sheldon is all about offering comfort through hot drinks. And really, with Leonard running off to RajÂ’s to see Priya, itÂ’s all up to Sheldon–aka the “tertiary friend”– to comfort Wolowitz as he “narcissistically rambles.”
HowardÂ’s problems only get worse the next day, when he shows up at the Cheesecake Factory. “Me or your mother?” Bernadette demands. He chooses his mother, at first–until he shows up at BernadetteÂ’s door with a bunch of suitcases.
His Big Bang Theory problems donÂ’t end there though. Even worse than before, Howard treats Bernadette like he treats his mother. He expects her to do the grocery shopping, cooking, laundry, and driving to his dentist appointments.
In the span of just one BBT episode, Howard is back at home, comforted by the brisket his unseen mother cooked for him.
Priya and Leonard reunite on Big Bang Theory to PennyÂ’s displeasure
No matter how many times Raj forbideded it, or forbode it, or forbade it, Leonard and Priya are back together. This time, though, itÂ’s all out in the open, and SheldonÂ’s not helping his best friend out.
Sheldon takes Raj’s side, citing the Hindu code. If Priya disobeys her brother, she’ll be reborn in the womb of a jackal and tormented by diseases. “If true,” Sheldon insists, “that seems like an awfully large gamble, given that the prize is Leonard.”
Yet, Priya seems quite happy with her prize. At first, Penny takes it in stride, despite Amy constantly asking if sheÂ’s okay. Amy wants to pick up the pieces of her broken heart, or monitor how PennyÂ’s emotions affect her brain activity.
The “bestie” relationship between Amy and Penny actually works, now that it’s only the two of them. It might be awkward, but Amy seems to be actually trying socially, unlike Sheldon, despite his comforting tea.
Amy obviously doesn’t understand bestie relationships completely. She goes from hating on Priya to saying this like: “Who are you kidding? She’s breathtaking” and “I am regretting my earlier cattiness. She’s an absolute delight.”
Penny ends up crying, and Amy is right there for her–to attach electrodes and see whatÂ’s happening “in that pretty little noggin of yours.”
What did you think of PriyaÂ’s return and her relationship with Leonard? Did you like the Howard-centric episode, something that doesnÂ’t usually happen on this CBS comedy?
Priya sure isn’t going to stick around forever on Big Bang Theory, but she will be back next Thursday on CBS at 8pm Eastern for “The Toast Derivation” to torment Penny some more.
