The Birthers Are Back!

The “birthers” are those that believe or are trying to convince others that President Obama is not a natural-born U.S. citizen. They demanded that he produce his birth certificate. He did. And then they challenged the validity of it in court.

Several states including California, Georgia and Arizona have lawsuits attempting to get Obama’s name off the ballot in November as an eligible candidate. The leaders of the movement are Joe Arpaio, an Arizona sheriff, and Orly Taitz, a run-of-the-mill nut-job.

Taitz asserts that Obama was born in Kenya, Goldman Sachs runs the U.S. Treasury, the House of Representatives is building six labor camps, and Hugo Chávez owns software that controls U.S. voting machines.

Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler is the latest Republican to re-ignite the birther tale. She is a representative in Missouri’s 4th district. Missouri’s House just put through a bill that would require all Presidential hopefuls to produce a birth certificate, beginning with the 2016 election. Even though the bill does not cover the upcoming election, Democrats in Missouri argued that Missouri Republicans were targeting President Obama. Republicans mentioned him by name, taunting Democrats by asking if the President was a U.S. citizen. Rep. Karla May, a Democrat, argued that the bill came from a place of hatred and racism.

During a town hall meeting last week, Hartzler answered a question about Obama’s birth certificate by saying “I have doubts that it is really his real birth certificate.”

Rep. Cliff Stearns has also made statements in the past few weeks alluding to the fact that the President’s birth certificate might not be legitimate.

Don’t Republicans have anything else to discuss with their constituents besides the validity of a sitting President’s place of birth?

If they weren’t discussing his birth place, they would likely be questioning his religion. And why won’t they accept the fact that he produced the birth certificate and it’s real? They very easily accept that “life” begins at conception, that God exists and speaks to them, that global warming is a lie, and that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Yet, they cannot accept something they can touch and see and prove.

GOP should stand for “Guess Or Pretend” since that is what they do. They guessed that Saddam Hussein had the weapons their puppet leader told them he had. They pretend global warming is not caused by greenhouse gasses. They guess that since Obama is half-black and born to an African father that he must have been born in Africa too. All big assumptions that ignore clearly presented facts.

Birthers riding magical talking dinosaurs work out free.
