This new reality show, The Next: Fame is at Your Doorstep, is all about finding brand new talents that might need a little bit of mentoring to take the next step in their music careers. Joe Jonas, Gloria Estefan, John Rich and Nelly are in for some surprises as they spend 72 hours with the contestants. They show up at their doorstep to get to know them by delving into their world and then mentor them as they get ready for the stage to rock out. One singer will be picked each week in a different city and then the remaining will sing for their lives in the final show. The winner will snag a recording contract with Atlantic records. Not a bad deal!

This week, they are in Orlando, Florida at the House of Blues in Orlando as they are hoping to find the next big thing in music.

First off is 18-year-old Taylor. She is pleasantly surprised when pop singer Joe Jonas shows up at her house. Joe said that he felt like he was taking her on a date but had to explain to her parents this was not the case. Taylor told her mentor that she went to see the JonasJoe Jonas visita EL Hormiguero de Pablo Motos Brothers in concert and she decided that she wants to do what they do. 23-year-old Jonas wants to get her out of her comfort zone. Instead of her singing a Taylor Swift tune, he decided to pick a song by One Republic called “Secrets.” That would have to wait because she has some babysitting to do…with 15 kids! Joe had his hands full but he made it through.

It was time for Taylor to go out and show what she can do on stage. She did an awesome job and the judges and audience loved her.

Next up, a young girl named Cori got picked by Gloria to mentor her. First, Cori put Gloria to work by mowing the lawn. It was a sight to see this celebrity on a riding mower. Later, Cori told her mentor that she has terrible stage fright. Gloria gave her some great advice. She tells her that it goes so fast and that moment may never come back. Gloria picked a Lady Gaga song, “The Edge of Glory,” for Cori to sing. She came out on stage and nailed it. John Rich told her that she is a spitfire being mentored by the original spitfire. No stage fright for her.

John Rich moves in with Michael, a country boy at heart with lots of tattoos. Michael was told by John that he overthinks everything, so they had some fun on a row boat and a bow and arrow. He even woke the poor guy up in the middle of the night to practice. However, Michael might have felt a little exposed when the country singer decided to surprise him while he was showering.

On stage, Michael was like a superstar already. He has the voice and stage presence of a typical country recording artist.

Itzy Rodriguez is surprised by Nelly showing up while she was sunbathing. Nelly realized that she does not believe in herself and decides to change that. He calls her a star but she needs to see it in herself. He chose a Katy Perry tune, “Firework.” Nelly got invited over for a pig roast with her family and then goes to work with her selling sunglasses.

Itzy has a strong voice and proved that as she sang on stage. But is it enough to get her voted to go on to the finals?

The audience gets to pick their favorite singer to make it through for a chance at that recording contract. After the vote, it was Michael Ray that won this first night of competition. He was a good choice and not very surprising. However, they all did a great job and may even get a little further in their music career after their moment on a big stage in front of a TV viewing audience. Who knows?

What did you think of this brand new reality competition? Tune in to see The Next: Fame is at Your Doorstep next Thursday at 9 p.m. on the CW Network.
