Bristol Palin didn’t gain fame for being a teen mom—she was already famous. The world was introduced to her when her mother, Sarah Palin, picked up the vice-presidential nomination for the Republican party. Shortly after, Bristol’s pregnancy and engagement were announced and ever since, she has been somewhat of a celebrity.
She has been a Teen Pregnancy Prevention Ambassador, appeared on Dancing with the Stars, and even released a memoir, so it only seems natural that she would try her hand at a reality show series, right? Well, she is—again.
Lifetime has announced that Bristol will star in her own series Life’s a Tripp (Tripp, of course referring to her son.) So, what can viewers expect? According to The Hollywood Reporter:
“From the first moment she was thrust into the public eye, Bristol and her son have been the subjects of a huge amount of curiosity and misunderstanding. This show will reveal the real Bristol Palin and her journey as a daughter, a mother and a young woman making her way in the world.”
That sounds good, but the only problem is that this isn’t the first reality show for a Palin. It isn’t even the second! No, this will be the third reality show starring a Palin, though only one has aired. Sarah Palin’s Alaska aired in 2010, but was not renewed for a second season.
Then, a reality show starring the former teen mom and her DWTS cast member, Kyle Massey, was filmed in Los Angeles. However, the project was dropped, but not after it had drummed up some talk (Bristol had allegedly gotten into an argument with a bar patron).
After all of that, it seems odd that another network is taking a chance on Bristol. Are people really interested in her day-to-day life? One big thing that draws people to reality television is drama, something that it appears the unaired series may have had. It’s hard to picture Bristol doing wild and crazy, but it looks like she has 10 episodes to try and convince the world they should watch her.
What do you think? Will you be watching a Bristol Palin reality show?
