Episode 12 of The Real Housewives of New York is all about birthday parties and who can throw the bigger bash without appearing as if it’s a bigger bash.
Ramona and LuAnn are planning their daughters’ Sweet 16 parties and both parties end up scheduled for the same night. Both Avery and Victoria take control of the party planning. Victoria wants a low-key party, while Avery wants a party that’s a little more elaborate, but not too over the top. Ramona insists upon having two separate areas at the party, one for the teens and one for the adults. Whose party is this anyway? Avery lets Ramona know, “Mom, it’s not your party,” but Ramona gets her way and invites 30 of her own friends.
In this episode of The Real Housewives of New York, fans get to see Jill visiting Dr. Wexler’s office to get what Jill calls “a liquid facelift,” something she admits to doing every five months. Jill having work done on her face was quite the hot topic earlier this year, especially since the NY Housewife denied getting work done on her face and insisted her youthful appearance was due to drinking water.
LuAnn throws a surprise birthday party for Jill at Chez Josephine. The party is uneventful except Ramona has yet one more opportunity to offend Jill. Someone at the party has a red wig, which Ramona snags and does an impersonation of Jill in which she screeches, “Bobby, my diamonds aren’t big enough! I want bigger diamonds!” Also, LuAnn changes into a Vegas showgirl costume and sings to Jill, which was just…strange.
While LuAnn leaves Victoria’s party early so the teens can have fun without a chaperone, Ramona parties on at Avery’s Sweet 16 or is it Ramona’s party? Avery isn’t happy that Ramona’s friends are mingling with her friends, so Avery talks to Kelly because she doesn’t feel as if she can approach Ramona. Kelly, the sanest of The Real Housewives of New York this season says Avery is a great girl, but she feels sorry for her. Kelly tries to tell Ramona to separate her friends from Avery’s, but Ramona insists its Avery’s friends that wants the adults to stick around.
At Avery’s party, Bobby confronts Simon about an apparent hate blog dedicated to Jill. Bobby tells Simon that he’s hearing Simon is involved in this blog and he really hopes it’s not true. Simon denies being involved, but fans will have to wait until next week to get the details of the hate blog scandal.
