Episode 11 of The Real Housewives of Orange County brings a confrontation between Tamra and a veteran OC housewife and Alexis surprisingly goes on a girls’ weekend without her “king.”
For the very first time, Alexis goes on a trip to Texas with the girls…without Jim, which is shocking since the couple was adamant last year that they never, ever travel without each other. Is Alexis tired of being under Jim’s thumb constantly or are the two just trying to grow their marriage? Gretchen wants a non-drama filled time in San Antonio, so she doesn’t invite Vicki or Tamra. Instead, Fernanda, Peggy and Alexis spend two days with Gretchen, partying, eating Texas BBQ and bull riding, all with only a tiny amount of tension between Alexis and Peggy.
This episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County, “Cutting Loose,” is where viewers get to find out Tamra’s side of Simon Barney’s arrest. According to Tamra, Simon threw a dog leash at her, she put up her arms to block it and the leash hit her wrists. She only wanted documentation for her divorce file and insists she didn’t want Simon arrested, but since their son was a witness, the police arrested Simon anyway.
Eddie, Tamra, Donn and Vicki go out to dinner, and when Donn tells Tamra to give him the lowdown on how Simon gets arrested, Eddie leaves the table because he doesn’t want to hear it; however, in a later scene, when Tamra has a meltdown over both Simon being arrested and Jeana talking to the press, Eddie repeats over and over that he’s there for Tamra and she can cry on his shoulder any time she needs to. So which is it? Is he there for her and wants her to cry on his shoulder or does he just not want to hear about Simon anymore?
Simon’s arrest prompts Jeana Keough to insert herself smack dab in the middle of the situation between the Tamra and Simon. Tamra receives text messages and calls from Jeana in which Jeana says Tamra should go to the police and “fix this” by telling the cops that Tamra is drunk when she calls the police. Tamra later confronts Jeana and demands that Jeana stop talking about things she knows nothing about, and Jeana pretty much tells Tamra that she thinks Tamra is a drama queen.
Although the situation is serious, it is ironic that Tamra, of all people, gets angry when someone sticks their nose in her business and actually offers an opinion on her life or her actions without knowing all the facts. Tamra seems to do this quite a bit to both Gretchen and Alexis, so it’s a bit hypocritical to demand that Jeana stop having an opinion and making comments.
