The Vampire Diaries: 03×02 ‘The Hybrid’ Episode Recap

Tonight on an all new episode of The Vampire Diaries, Elena (Nina Dobrev) asks Alaric (Matt Davis) to help her track a pack of werewolves that she believes will lead her to Stefan (Paul Wesley). Alaric agrees to go with Elena but he doesn’t tell her that he asked Damon (Ian Somerhalder) to come along as well.

Klaus (Joseph Morgan) is angry when he realizes that the vampire/werewolf hybrids he is creating are becoming rabid. He doesn’t know that Elena is still alive and that the curse that binds him is still active.

After Stefan saves him from a hybrid attack in the mountains, Damon realizes that Stefan may not have gone completely dark side after all. Damon pledges to help Elena bring Stefan back. But not before he tries to get Elena to admit that she has feelings for him.

Damon is hoping that Elena will realize that she loves him; even if Stefan comes back to Mystic Falls. And quite frankly fans are hoping so too because the chemistry and connection between Elena and Damon is much more powerful than that of Elena and Stefan.

Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) tries to convince Matt (Zach Roerig) to help him communicate with Vicki from beyond the grave. Vicki’s ghost tells Jeremy that he can bring her back to life. But Anna’s ghost tells Jeremy not to trust Vicki. If one ghost
tells you not to trust another ghost, you probably should listen.

Caroline (Candice Accola) is taken hostage. Tyler (Michael Trevino) interrogates his
mother when Caroline goes missing. Tyler also finds out that his mother has tried to get him to drink vervain. Tyler knows vervain is toxic to vampires.

After he gets into an argument with his mother about Caroline, Tyler tells his mother that he is a werewolf. After she sees her son’s transformation, Mrs. Lockwood promises to intervene to protect Caroline.

This week’s episode of The Vampire Diaries was full of surprises, including an appearance by guest star Jack Coleman. The only thing that could’ve made this episode better was if Bonnie (Kat Graham) had been back from her summer vacation.

On next week’s episode, Klaus takes Stefan on a bloody trip down memory lane. Tune in to The Vampire Diaries Thursdays at 8 p.m./7c
on The CW.
