He’s not only going to be pissed at Matt, who Somerhalder has already said will have a “tough year,” but his anger toward his brother as well for saving Matt first. Somerhalder teased to the press, “He’s pissed. What an idiot. Seriously, why would you ever do that? She’s 18-years-old. I’m not saying she can’t have her own thoughts and feelings and likes and dislikes and desires, but when someone’s 18 and say they wanna die, don’t let them.” A teaser shown at the Comic-Con panel did show that there’s at least one good Damon-Stefan confrontation to look forward to.

Somerhalder also talked a bit about the new vampire hunter threat in The Vampire Diaries season 4, calling him “a big problem” and even wondering if perhaps Elena could end up saving the brothers for once instead of the other way around now that she’s a vampire: “You know what’s really funny? Imagine Elena coming to save one of the boys. That’s a really cool thing. Because she went from being sort of a bad-ass girl to being a bad-ass woman overnight, literally.” That is always possible. Elena’s emotions are going to be heightened as a vampire, so part of that is likely going to be protecting her friends. Will that come out while facing off with the vampire hunter Connor, played by Todd Williams and first appearing in episode 2?
