‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 4 Spoilers: Official Description Teases Elena’s Transition, Brotherly Conflict
The Vampire Diaries season 4 premieres on the CW on October 11 with “Growing Pains,” which will see Elena facing becoming a vampire. What else is coming up for these characters in their senior year?
Vampire Diaries Season 4 Spoilers
“Season Four begins with the knowledge that everything is in transition. Elena faces her worst nightmare when she awakens after the accident and finds she must now endure the terrifying transition to become a vampire—or face certain death. Stefan and Damon are torn even further apart over how to help Elena adjust to a life she never wanted, and everyone has to cope with the chaos Alaric created when he outed the vampires and their supporters to the Mystic Falls Council and local church leaders. Despite everything that has happened to them, as Elena and her friends enter into the final stretch of high school before graduation sends them off on different paths, they feel the bond to their home town of Mystic Falls take on a deeper meaning when a new mysterious villain is introduced who seems intent on destroying it.”
The Vampire Diaries season 4 is going to see Elena becoming a vampire, and the first episode, “Growing Pains,” will see her—and her friends—dealing with her transition. It’s not going to be easy, but as the promo the CW has released (below) shows, she’s not going to have much of a choice, and Damon lays that right out there for her: “You feed or you die.” Since it’s not really a question of whether she transitions, instead, it’s a matter of how she makes that transition and how she ends up feeding. It’s something that’s bound to change things up on the show, which is good since it’s entering its fourth season.
This also means more brotherly conflict, which can only be a good thing. The scenes between Stefan and Damon usually end up being the best ones of an episode or even a season, whether they’re in agreement or fighting about something, and so far with what’s been released from the new season, it looks like that’s going to continue to be true. Elena may have chosen Stefan at the end of season 3, something that Damon, but not his brother, knows, but everything’s going to change over the course of the season with Elena now a vampire.
Meanwhile, while Alaric was that ultimate vampire hunter at the end of season 3, he spilled about the vampires and hybrids to the Council, and that’s something that Caroline and Tyler’s mothers are going to have to deal with in the new season. The season description also mentions “local church leaders,” and there is Pastor Young coming to town in the premiere. The promo below even offers a look at what to expect there. It’s not good, but did you expect anything different? How will they deal with these secrets being out and the danger they’re in? Will it get to be too far spread that they can’t rely on compelling those who know to forget?
Meanwhile, this is their senior year, and they’re going to have to figure out what they want to do after graduation. Unsurprisingly, they’re also going to have to face off with a new villain. How will that impact their decisions for the future? Will saving Mystic Falls from this villain lead to some of them changing plans and deciding to stay even if they had planned on leaving? Could one of them die at the hands of this new villain and that leads to someone else changing their plans at the end of the season, whether it’s to stay or go?
