Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green are both leaving The Voice at the end of season three. They’ll be replaced during season four by Usher and Shakira. Adam Levine and Blake Shelton plan to stay on for season four.
According to a report from Access Hollywood, these changes were confirmed by the show and the network on Monday.
Christina Aguilera is reportedly taking time off to work on a new album. And while many will no doubt applaud her departure, it’s uncertain how they’ll feel about Shakira as her replacement.
Cee Lo Green will no doubt be sorely missed by fans of the music competition show, and while Usher will likely be well-received, he’s no Cee Lo. Green has a style all his own that lends itself impeccably to the show, and his banter with the other judges is hilarious.
A press release was issued on Monday afternoon by Robert Greenblatt, Chairman of NBC Entertainment.
“We are thrilled to welcome Usher and Shakira to ‘The Voice,'” he said. “The addition of these popular iconic artists continues the tradition established by Christina, Cee Lo, Adam, and Blake.”
