As The X Factor regroups by having the viewers vote, Rachel Crow does what Simon Cowell wants her to do and sings a happy-go-lucky number that has this young singer written all over it.
The so-called mean judge told his charge to take on the classic Walking on Sunshine, a familiar anthem from Katrina & the Waves. And, even though a bit trite, Rachel Crow did her duty and did a stunning job.
This X Factor USA favorite, who is only a teen, was so upbeat that you almost wanted to get up and dance right there in front of your couch (surely, some viewers did). To be sure, Crow took the song from low to high with great confidence and with a vocal quality that goes way beyond her young years.
She could have done a cheesy job with this predictable tune, but she did not. Instead and even though she was cute, Rachel was also extremely charming, making fans out of viewers who were not fans before.
While there was controversy between Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger over the way this song was sung by Rachel Crow (see story here), all The X Factor USA judges turned out to be on her team, cheering this youngster on.
But will the voting public do the same? Did Rachel Crow walk on enough sunshine to be asked to compete next week? While you wait to find out the answer on Thursday, please weigh in: Should Rachel Crow stay or should she go from the first season of The X Factor USA at this juncture? Thoughts?
