One of the most anticipated films coming out in 2011 is Thor. It stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, and Stellan Skarsgard. It hits theaters May 6th and the first Thor trailer has been released.

“The powerful but arrogant warrior Thor is cast out of the fantastic realm of Asgard and sent to live amongst humans on Earth, where he soon becomes one of their finest defenders.” (IMDB)

Lately there have been rumors that there would be some cameos from other heroes in the upcoming film, and Jeremy RennerÂ’s appearance as Hawkeye has been confirmed (Samuel Jackson will not be in the movie as Nick Fury).

The Thor trailer begins with Thor fighting off the doctors and nurses in a hospital room. It then goes on to show him taking down guards. Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) tells him that what he did wasn’t easy and it made his men look bad. He wants to know where Thor was trained and has his own theories.

Next the trailer shows where Thor is from and how his actions changed that world. Odin (Hopkins) tells him he’s “a vain, greedy, cruel boy,” and Thor calls him “an old man and a fool” in response. Odin tells him he’s unworthy and takes his power away before exiling him.

Portman’s Jane Foster finds Thor, and he’s upset to discover he’s on Earth. He explains he’s from a place where magic and science “are one and the same.” And it looks like his world and Earth are about to collide.

Just like other hero movies, thereÂ’s action, fights, and romance. Also just like other movies lately, itÂ’s going to be in 3D.

What do you think of the Thor trailer? Are you going to see this movie?
