Last week’s Thursday Challenge was on Tributes to wonderful people. I had the privilege of joining others to write some responses to the challenge and will write more in the days, weeks, months and years ahead. As I wrote the responses I began to really think about this week’s challenge. The ones who had tributes written about them are inspiring. As I thought of these wonderful people my mind wandered to what has inspires me in my life. Certainly there are so many people who inspire but nature, creativity and places inspire too.
Your challenge for Thursday January 17, 2013 is to create a post about who or what has inspired you or what is inspiring you today.
After fourteen years in manufacturing, service and marketing a poem by Emily Dickinson inspired me to become a teacher “If I can save one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain.” What inspired me to become a special educator happened years earlier when a teacher told me I was the stupidest student she had ever taught. What inspired me to walk again after a 23 car wreck was when I looked at my pain as an enemy to fight and to beat. What inspired me to reach out to those who are less fortunate than me is experiences when I was in need. What inspires me to love is all of the undeserving love I have experienced in life. What inspires me to be a friend to others is the friendship others have shown me. There are so many different sources of inspiration and so many reasons that these sources inspire.
This Challenge is open to all forms of creativity from poetry to photos and photo essays to all sorts of creative writings.
Although this is more of an open challenge than the challenges have been for Thursdays in awhile there are still a few guidelines that we need to follow. They are the usual one that we ask you to follow each Thursday. One guideline to remember is to include the words Inspiration 1/17/2013 somewhere in the title.
Another guideline is to be sure to tag it with Thurs or Thursday Writing Essentials, Thursday Gather Writing Essential, Inspiration Don’t forget to Post your post to Gather Writing Essential.
Another guideline is to not forget that there is a limit of three submissions from each member per day. If you’re extremely prolific, spread out your work and post only three submissions per day.
One last guideline is to please remember not to submit any response until Thursday actually happens (No earlier than 12:01 AM).
** Again I still have not reached a point where my plate is clear enough to be able to post a list of the responses to Thursday’s Challenge. It is still my intent to to finally do that ASAP but it won’t be this week either. I am very sorry.
***Any post submitted after Thursday will be accepted throughout the week as usual.
