It looks like Tiger Woods has recaptured his golfing mojo. He won his first PGA tournament in more than 30 months this past weekend. One question remains, however. Does anyone really care?
The answer is a resounding “yes”. His fans do. Despite what Tiger’s done in his personal life, there’s no denying that Woods has made a lot of contributions to golf. He’s helped to elevate the game to a major, instead of minor, spectator sport.
Woods has paid his dues for his past mistakes. He didn’t play golf for a long time after tanking his marriage and becoming the poster boy for sexual obsession. Even when he first came back, things didn’t go well for the boy wonder. It looked as if his talent might have abandoned him right along with his wife Elin.
Thankfully, some people wrote him off too quickly. The man has unwavering determination and he used to make his long-awaited comeback. It happened this week during the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando, Florida. Tiger shot a 13 for his last round, finishing five strokes under par and out distancing everyone.
Nobody could touch him, although a few tried. The Tiger Woods of old was back in full force, achieving a decided win. He proved something to himself and to his fans as well. They rejoiced with him and are ready to watch him do it again.
Is Tiger’s win a one-time fluke or is he making a comeback? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: It’s always best not to bet against the man in the red shirt.
