Who wouldn’t love to walk on board a ship that looked just like the Titanic of 1912? Australian billionaire Clive Palmer wants to make that dream come true for everyone who can afford to sail on his Titanic replica in 2016. And he promises it will be ‘unsinkable’ for the faint of heart.
With more than 1,500 people having already given their own lives in the Titanic disaster 100 years ago, however, it isn’t likely Palmer will have too many people willing to chance a repeat performance come launch day for his vessel.
To woo would-be travelers the billionaire from Down Under is making it clear that his Titanic replica will be state-of-the-art, according to CNN, and “it will have 21st Century technology and the latest navigation and safety systems.”
Given those promises that should help him get passengers for the day he plans to set sail.
It might help more if some famous celebrities and Washington leaders mention they trust the China-made ship to keep them afloat–and prove it by boarding the Titanic replica in late 2016, when it is anticipated to makes its debut voyage from London to New York.
Of course Palmer might want to let Leonard DiCaprio and Kate Winslet know their participation will not be required, so no one gets spooked.
And it wouldn’t hurt if Palmer also commissioned a fleet of ships to sail alongside the behemoth vessel to be, just to offer physical reassurance that backup will be on hand to transport riders safely to the shore in the event this ship sinks, too.
