TOM Cruise is being sued by Michael Davis Sapir, a magazine editor, for allegedly hiring a private investigator to illegally wiretap his phones, according to documents obtained by TMZ.com.
Michael Davis Sapir claimed Cruise, along with attorney Bert Fields and a jailed private investigator Anthony Pellicano, conspired to spy on him and wiretapped his phones.
There is a long history between Cruise and Sapir.
Tom Cruise sued Sapir in 2001 for $US100 million ($113m) after Sapir claimed he had video evidence which showed Cruise “engaged in a homosexual relationship”.
That lawsuit settled later that year. The suit was settled out of court and both parties issued a statement saying there was no tape.
In this latest suit, which was filed on Friday in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Sapir claims “Pellicano illegally wiretapped his phone during the time the 2001 lawsuit was active.”
Sapir also claims in the suit that Cruise, Fields and Pellicano collaborated in the wiretap..
Sapir is suing Cruise for $US5 million.
