Next summer signals the beginning of the fourth season of Torchwood, The New World. The BBC series is doing things a little differently for this season and instead of staying in Cardiff, Wales, it’s going global and airing simultaneously in the UK and the US on BBC One and Starz, respectively.

Havins wins female role

TorchwoodtitleMichael Ausiello has reported that the BBC drama has cast the female series regular role, and itÂ’s going to Alexa Havins (All My Children), who will also be guest starring in an upcoming episode of GreyÂ’s Anatomy.

Havins’ character is going to be “Esther Katusi, a CIA Watch Analyst who possesses an unshakable faith in human nature and a monster crush on colleague Rex (Mekhi Phifer).”

Do you think there will be some romance between Esther and Rex? Remember, this is Torchwood—there’s much more romance on this series than on Doctor Who.

Lachman to guest star

Another bit of casting news from the Torchwood camp is that Dichen Lachman (Dollhouse) will be guest starring in the season 4 premiere. All that is known about her character is that sheÂ’s part of the CIA.

Are you going to watch season 4 of Torchwood even though fan favorites Tosh, Owen, and Ianto are all gone?
