Yesterday the Toronto Blue Jays hit 8 home runs and scored 17 runs in a 17-11 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. How in the world do you follow that kind of performance up?
How about your pitcher goes out and almost throws a no-hitter and strikes out 17, yes 17 batters!
Brandon Morrow was one batter away from a no-hitter today. After retiring the first two hitters in the 9th inning, the giving up a walk, Evan Longoria hit a 1-1 pitch on the ground the other way towards second baseman Aaron Hill. Hill scooted to his left and made a dive as the ball took a hop, and it fell out of his glove and trickled away as Hill hit face first on the ground.
It was a great effort by Hill to knock the ball down, but the ball wasn’t hit to sharply, which actually worked against Morrow in this situation. Overall it still was a great performance by Brandon Morrow, and the Jays won the game 1-0.
