‘True Blood’ Season 4 Premiering Sunday

The fourth season of the HBO hit vampire series, True Blood, will première tonight, June 26 at 9 p.m.

The show stars Anna Paquin as Sookie Stackhouse, an innocent waitress with fairy abilities, and Stephen Moyer as the intense and protective vampire Bill Compton.

According to TV Overmind, season 4 will undoubtedly pick up where season 3 left off. For avid followers of True Blood, that means continuing plot lines for Lafayette and his lover, Jesus, who reveals himself to be a brujo, or witch; Hoyt’s attempts to marry Jessica despite his mother’s disapproval of Jessica’s vampire being; Sookie grasping to make sense of her newfound knowledge of fairy powers; and the ever-twisted jealousy of Bill and Eric as they vie for Sookie’s loyalty and attention.

The TV series of True Blood, written in part by Alan Ball, is based upon the Sookie Stackhouse novel series by Charlaine Harris. Each season attempts to stretch out the events of each novel, following the riveting and blood-filled lives of the vampires and a slew of other mythical characters in Bon Temps, Louisiana. The show has often been viewed as an allegory for equal rights in America, highlighting the divide between American conservatism and the vampire race.
