I had just finished a phone interview with Health magazine yesterday when it dawned on me that great changes really can come from small tweaks in your diet and exercise programs.
I can’t reveal the exercise quick tips I gave Kate from Health magazine until it comes out, but I can tell you that some of my most successful body transformation clients have been able to get away with only making minor changes that added up to amazing results in their body composition and healthy lifestyle.
For instance, I began working with a guy earlier this year who refused to change the way he ate. He just didn’t want to give up beer with his buddies, or a few slices of pizza 2-3 a week. So after sitting down with him and really looking over his typical meal plan for the week, I asked him if he would be willing to make just one change for me and see how that went for him…
He reluctantly said yes, and then asked me what it was.
I told him that every time he reached for a sip of something I wanted that something to be water. No soda, no juice, and no artificial sweeteners. I even let him have beer once or twice a week at Celtic’s basketball games if he really felt he needed a few with his buddies.
So what were the results from this tiny tweak in his nutrition?
Well, without changing any other dietary habits he was able to drop 11 pounds in 3 weeks and he told me he even cut back on his beer drinking because he honestly felt like he was getting healthier and didn’t want to ruin it with too much drinking.
The story has an even greater twist to it because as he continued to lose more weight he found he had a new passion for health & fitness that he never knew existed within him. He took up exercising 2 times a week and even played basketball Wednesday nights with his friends at the gym.
Within 3 months you may not have even recognized this guy if you hadn’t seen him during his 90 day transformation…
So, I ask you what small tweak in your diet or exercise program can you make today that will get you started on the path to reshaping your body and taking control of your health. Remember, you can do something as small as my reluctant client like just cutting out any beverage that isn’t water.
Start small and keep the ball rolling… you’ll be surprised at how much momentum you really can build up.
