Two members of the Pussycat Dolls — also known by music fans of a certain age as “Apollonia Six Revisited” — have up and quit the singing group, giving hope to lingerie-clad-women-who-can-carry-a-tune-with-a bit-of-studio-sweetening everywhere.

Ashley Roberts announced her exit today via Twitter, noting that she’d had “an amazing ride,” had “learned so much,” and will “always love those girls. My sistas 4 life.”

Roberts later issued a statement explaining that she’s “gotten the acting bug and am falling in love with it. I have a few projects in the works and when ready I will announce more details to all of you.” She’s also working on some solo musical stuff, which should make fans of Emma Bunton and Gina Schock quake with jealousy.

Meanwhile, Kimberley Wyatt exited over the weekend saying “money and fame can’t buy happiness.” Too true.

The pair’s departure follows that of Carmit Bachar, who quit the group in 2008.

Rumors are that the other Dolls have become increasingly annoyed with the attention paid to Nicole Scherzinger, who’s been promoted to Dolls lead singer, is currently working on her own solo material, and is the only Doll that most people have heard of.

Scherzinger was apparently announced earlier today as one of the contestants on Dancing with the Stars, but I haven’t been able to find any posts about that.
