There is a new group of diva’s in town–and they are young, energetic, and ready to rock.
Jennifer Hudson, Miley Cyrus, Jordin Sparks, Kelly Clarkson were among the inductees at the “VH1 Diva’s” concert that aired last night from the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
Hosted by Paula Abdul, who opened with an overture of her best songs, was remembered for her great dancing ability and not so much her singing. Abdul was very funny when she poked fun at Ellen DeGeneres, who is replacing her on “American Idol.” Abdul donned a suit, tennis shoes, and a short blond wig, and then danced around the stage.
Jennifer Hudson sang with Stevie Wonder–her childhood hero–may have had the biggest “diva moment.” Leona Lewis and Cyndi Lauper sand a duet to “True Colors,” which I would like a copy of as soon as it comes out.
All in all it was a really great night. Honoring female artists–thank goodness Kanye was not there. There was a group of missing Divas–Mary J. Blige, Carrie Underwood, Beyonce, Taylor Swift…I wonder if this was on purpose; giving the other Diva’s a chance to have their moment.
