Victoria Justice and Selena Gomez are two completely different actresses and singers, but people compare them to one another all the time. Justice dishes in October’s issue of Marie Claire about what that’s like as well as about her upcoming film Fun Size.
According to a report from Fanshare, Victoria knows that most of the comparisons between her and Selena stem from both girl’s pasts as child stars.
“It doesn’t bother me at all. I’m supposed to be where I am. At the end of the day, we’re both very different and just finding our way in this industry,” she says.
Selena spent years on Disney as Alex Russo, her character in The Wizards of Waverly Place. Victoria starred in Nickelodeon’s Victorious. Fans sometimes confuse the two networks and assume that both girls are former Disney stars.
Starring opposite Chelsea Handler in Fun Size, Victoria plays a teenage girl who loses her little brother–whom she is supposed to be babysitting–at a party she wasn’t supposed to go to herself. Handler plays her mom.
“She’s fearless,” she says of Chelsea Handler. “Whatever comes to her in the moment, she just spits it out, no matter how graphic or crazy it is!”
Fun Size is a perfect example of why people shouldn’t compare Selena Gomez and Victoria Justice. While Selena has moved on to far more adult roles in her film career, Victoria is still playing teen roles. However the Victorious star definitely has what it takes to catch up with Gomez in both looks and talent. Just give her another year or two.
