Voice of Elmo Kevin Clash has resigned following word of a second child sex abuse accusation. Is his resignation an admission of guilt?
According to a report from TMZ, the new allegations are the second in two weeks, accusing Clash of having sex with an underage boy.
Cecil Singleton is the plaintiff in this lawsuit. He claims he met Clash during a gay phone chat back in 1993 when he was fifteen years old. Clash was 32 at that time.
A rep for Sesame Workshop issued the following statement soon after word broke of the second lawsuit.
“Unfortunately, the controversy surrounding Kevin’s personal life has become a distraction that none of us want, and he has concluded that he can no longer be effective in his job and has resigned from Sesame Street. This is a sad day for Sesame Street,” the statement read.
This leaves a void in the Sesame Street family. Hopefully they can find someone to recreate the voice of their beloved character Elmo–and soon, too.
Do you think Sesame Street forced Kevin Clash to resign or does he feel cornered and wants out of the public eye?
