What Happened to Cole Evans?

Filed in Gather News Channel by on January 5, 2013 0 Comments

Seven-year-old Cole Evans vanished from his grandmother’s property in Seligman, Arizona after last being seen at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 5, 2013. The grandmother told authorities that the child wandered off to a nearby property called “Anvil Rock,” and then vanished. A search is now under way, but with several hours past and the winter temperatures being quite chilly in the desert, it’s difficult to envision a positive outcome in this case. There have been no signs of the child since 10:00 a.m.—nearly 10 hours—so could this mean that he was abducted?

Children wander away sometimes; this is just a part of raising them. However, there are clear and present dangers in every neighborhood, whether they be treacherous terrain and wildlife or registered sex offenders and child predators. Officials are coordinating a land and air search for the boy and the Arizona Department of Public Safety will be assisting.

Hopefully this sad case ends on a happy note and little Cole Evans is returned safely where he belongs. However, with nearly 12 hours past and no sight of him or evidence in the case, it’s hard to imagine what might happen next.
