What Happened to Randy Quaid?

Last night, “Independence Day” hero, Randy Quaid and his wife, Evi, were arrested on felony burglary charges for allegedly squatting in the guest house of a home he used to own in Montecito, Ca.  Both are being held in the Montecito jail on $50,000 bond.

According the the Huffington Post, the pair were arrested after the owner of the house discovered they were living in the guest house without permission, and caused upward of $5,000 damage. Randy was arrested quietly, while his wife Evi was charged with resisting arrest.

Last year, the Quaids made news when they were charged with paying for a $10,000 hotel bill with a fraudulent credit card. That incident, which led to arrests in both Texas and California is not the first time the Quaids have been accused of stiffing a hotel in which they were staying. There have been numerous reports of their leaving without paying at various hotels in California, including the ritzy Bel Air hotel.

So, What has happened to Randy Quaid that he has fallen into apparent homelessness?  This man is a talented actor, who has been nominated for Emmys, Golden Globes, and Oscars. He has more than 90 films under his belt, and countless TV appearances.

Your guess is as good as mine. There have been no reports of drugs, drinking, gambling or other vices which could have led to his downfall. There has been no statement from his brother Dennis Quaid about any of Randy’s shenanigans. There are no reports of the Quaids living high-on-the-hog, other than the unpaid hotel bills, all of which have been paid..

What could have transpired to make a successful actor need to live in the guest house of the home he used to own? Where did his money go?

Someone, please give the man a job, he needs one.
