What Happened to Worldstarhiphop.com? – 50 Cent Shut Down Website, or it Crashed

So what happened to Worldstarhiphop.com website exactly? It appears the site was shut down earlier in the day, leading many to believe it was some sort of Homeland Security shutdown. Meanwhile, rapper 50 Cent is taking responsibility for the site being shut down.

According to AllHipHop.com, rapper 50 Cent (real name Curtis Jackson) took credit for the Worldstar Hip-Hop site shutdown earlier today. Jackson has a pending 2009 lawsuit against WorldStarHipHop.com for using his images and content without his permission.

A WorldStarHipHop owner is denying the site shutdown has anything to do with the lawsuit. He insists it was due to technical difficulties. However, 50 has several tweets on his official Twitter account including:

I put worldstar to bed, you don’t believe try me I will shut your sh*t down. Lol about 4 hours ago via ÃœberTwitter

I don’t know why people underestimate me. I just shut down WORLDSTAR for future advertising contact thisis50.com suckers lol

50 Cent continued to tweet about it, as fans doubted the validity of his claims. Jackson said on Twitter:

I predict 2 more web sites will shut down this week. Take a guess who they are. I’m sick of the hate I’m to strong.

Me and @FloydMayweather don’t thing worldstar was good representation of black people as a hole. We will present better

So, does 50 Cent really have this much power? It’s quite possible, as just a few weeks ago the rapper was able to send out a series of tweets to help drive the price up on a penny stock he had several million shares of.

The rapper was able to cash in for several million just off the stock rising many cents in value. Now, he is taking credit for a website’s crash. Is this a possible legal injunction, or is 50 Cent just gaining some spotlight while he can?

Much like Kanye West, and other rap stars, 50 Cent seems to enjoy grabbing headlines however possible, whether it be via a website crash on Twitter or interrupting someone’s award speech. This may be just the beginning of “WorldstarLeaks 2011.”
