What Price the Dream?

c o p i a

of pleasures wait

for me in her arms

abundant  her  allure

beguiled am I by her charms

I thought I’d have the strength to say

“Goodbye, my love” – and then walk away

one look – I knew I didn’t’ have a prayer

a dream

I have dreamt

a thousand times

if I have but once -

her smile is uplifting

she  embodies  all  I  crave

the sound of her laughter elates -

like a moth, drawn to the blinding light

I slide off my ring and possess my dream
