March Madness is approaching leading fans to wonder when is Selection Sunday 2012? That’s the time when several TV shows will reveal the latest NCAA Tournament bracket for the East, West, South, and Midwest regions.
The Selection Sunday 2012 time has been scheduled as March 11th, at 6PM EST. That’s when several TV channels will reveal the picks. The main coverage comes from CBS, who will have its hour long NCAA Selection Show. ESPN will also reveal the brackets shortly after on its show SportsCenter, also at 6 p.m. At that time, the official brackets are shown for each of the four regions of the upcoming basketball tournament. Various analysts from both ESPN and CBS will start breaking down the brackets and explaining who was snubbed or got a spot they shouldn’t have.
Over at Joe Lunardi’s Bracketology as of today, he’s still got his predictions for who will end up where. This could all change as conference tournaments like the Big East and ACC continue, but he currently has 10 Big East Conference teams in the tourney. The Big 12 and Big Ten each have 6 teams according to Lunardi. His last four teams in as of this report are Washington, Mississippi State, Drexel, and Seton Hall. His first four out are Tennessee, Northwestern, NC State, and Miami, making them bubble teams. There’s still a slight chance a few of those teams end up in the final field, so it will be interesting to see if they can squeak by on their past season’s resume.
There will be a total of 68 teams in the field, with a round called the “First Four” opening on March 13th and 14th to determine two teams to move on to the second round. That second round begins on March 15th, which is really when the madness gets into full swing. To be technical though, it will start as soon as Selection Sunday 2012 shows have ended and fans begin filling out those printable NCAA tournament brackets for office pools or online contests from ESPN or CBS Sports!
Which team do you think will win it all this NCAA tournament? Do you have a favorite team you’re waiting to see seeded for the tournament?
