Who Murdered Faith Hedgepeth?

Nineteen-year-old Faith Hedgepeth was found dead in her apartment in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The Native American woman was a biology major at UNC with a promising future ahead of her. She wanted to get into medicine. A member of the Haliwa-Saponi Tribe, this young woman was an active member of her church and was close to her people. So how did she die and who murdered her?

Faith HedgepethSadly, the details behind her murder are not being released by investigators at this time. The details are sealed. Meanwhile, the murderer of this beautiful college coed is at large and the reward being offered for information is pathetic. The reward was only at $2,000, about the equivalent of working even a menial job for a month. Who would come forward with information on this girl’s homicide for money that would be gone as quick as it was given to them? In other cases of unsolved homicides and missing persons, the rewards reach anywhere from $10,000 to $275,000—and even they rarely attract any takers. This is all just a crying shame. Now the reward has been raised to $29,000, slowly accumulating to an amount that might tempt someone to give the police some information.

More details need to be released about this young woman’s death. If detectives gave out just a few more details, such as how her body was found, how long she’d been dead or even the mode in which the killer ended her life would be useful in profiling a potential suspect.

The stark silence of the people surrounding this case isn’t doing Faith Hedgepeth, the victim, any favors. She was such a beautiful woman who was very well liked in the area, so she deserves a little more than the dead silence her case is getting. Was her murder fueled by love lost, jealousy or was this the act of a sexual predator who watched her before striking?
