Anyone who is wondering who was voted off Dancing with the Stars on the results night for March 27, 2012 can find out here, but those who don’t want to know yet should take this as a spoiler warning.
OK, with that business done, here comes the recap that leads up to this season’s first elimination.
As of last night’s performance show, the top of the DWTS leaderboard belongs to opera singer Katherine Jenkins who scored a 26 out of 30 for her jive with Mark Ballas (see review here).
Meanwhile Roshon Fegan and ballroom pro partner Chelsie Hightower also earned 26 points, followed by Maria Menounos and Derek Hough who took 25 points for their ominous jive.
As for the bottom of the pile, that would be Martina Navratilova, who is partnered with Tony Dovolani, a patient teacher (usually) who was the brave person to deal with a sometimes outrageous and obviously bossy Kate Gosselin.
In his new partner, Dovolani deals with a partner who is a good sport and who is game for trying to do as well as she can despite the fact that dancing is not her forte. Tennis is.
And so, with that in mind, and with the fact that the scores from this week added to the scores from last week are used to compute the person who will be voted off when added to the number of votes each pair receives, one pair will go. Confusing? That is a lot of arithmetic but no worries. This will all be sorted out by the powers that be on Dancing with the Stars.
Meanwhile, Matt Nathanson, who tours with Kelly Clarkson, made an appearance on the DWTS stage, giving up his most recent single called “Run” with Grammy-winning country duo Sugarland, all while ballroom favorites Tristan MacManus and Peta Murgatroyd danced the rumba.
A second number from Sugarland was their offering of their anthem called “Find The Beat Again” with the DWTS troupe on show as the two singers voices filled the ballroom.
Then there were comments by the contenders with William Levy’s “I can’t go home first…Bruno hasn’t seen me topless yet” getting the biggest laugh.
Another highlight was a Kym Johnson-choreographed number that included all the pros on the show as well as a number of the members of the DWTS troupe
As for the nitty-gritty of this crucial results show for this intense and utterly delightful ABC talent show?
Well, here’s how all went down.
The three teams who were in the bottom three and thus in jeopardy were Martina Navratilova and Tony Dovolani, Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower and Gavin DeGraw and Karina Smirnoff.
And the results, stretched out until the very end of the hour-long show?
Sadly, Martina and Tony were voted off Dancing with the Stars on March 27, 2012 during which time they clutched each other’s hands and said goodbye before performing their last official dance of the competition.
Did you see this coming? Do you agree with what happened on ABC on Tuesday night? Thoughts? Thanks.
