Why Wonder? Mindful Poetry Contest #4 Spiral MP2012

I’ve been wondering why any human beings at all are moved to love and do
the right thing instead of living by the law of the jungle.  Why the
universe should be so vast and expanding so fast that the light you

see from the earliest, farthest galaxies will never touch the opposite end
of the cosmos.  Why we invent gods to explain these things
and then believe they care whether the Yankees win and

whether one human being among six billion misses church.
Why my child feels she has to shun
me after I spent decades making sure

she had everything.  Why I’m so
afraid of success whenever I
get close I go

all Fay Wray,
screaming, running
away.
