Will Ashton Kutcher and Ted Danson boost ratings for CBS? With these two heavy hitters joining the line up of show aired on the network, will it work?

Ashton Kutcher as “Walden Schmidt” is replacing Charlie Sheen’s character “Charlie Harper” on Two and a Half Men while Ted Danson will take over for Laurence Fishburne on CSI.

“The truth is, my jaw is still hanging a bit from the news,” Danson said during a panel discussion of the series at the Television Critics Assn. press tour in Beverly Hills. Aside from being thrilled upon hearing the news, he will be adding a lighter tone to the show’s overall theme. The role Danson is known best for is “Sam Malone” from Cheers and if there is any similarities, CSI will be even better!

Making it clear that all actors are replaceable, by even bigger stars, CBS is attempting to revitalize their sinking hit shows. Whether it works or not is up to Ashton Kutcher and Ted Danson. Let us not forget the résumé each actor carries and how their acting careers have worked out. Between Cheers and That 70s Show, the proof is in the pudding, or the fantastic ratings and success of both sitcoms.

Will Ashton Kutcher and Ted Danson have what it takes to boost rating for CBS? Was this a good move or just the beginning of the end?
