Will ‘Kardashian Curse’ Kill Kanye West’s Popularity Now That Kim Kardashian is Pregnant?

Last month, a report surfaced claiming that Kanye West’s popularity has been waning, income has been falling and reputation has been suffering since he hooked up with Kim Kardashian. And unfortunately for Ye, things could be going from bad to worse!

Stephen Master of Nielsen tells Huffington Post that now that Kim is pregnant, Kanye “could be facing a downturn in broad appeal and marketability” because “the three sports players who dated a Kardashian sister experienced a dramatic plunge in the public’s perception of them” — something he calls the “Kardashian Curse” (shouldn’t that be “Kurse”?).

“Between Lamar Odom, Reggie Bush and Kris Humphries, those guys have all had their N-Score [an algorithm that rates an athlete's popularity] hurt, and it isn’t because of their awareness. Their awareness has actually shot up, in every case, but their negative appeal has also shot up. You need to do well, and you also need to date someone who people like. The Kardashians are controversial. They have really negatively impacted the marketability of [Odom, Bush and Humphries],” Stephen tells the website.

There’s no word on whether the “Kardashian Curse” has affected the non-athlete celebrities the sisters have been involved with, including Ray J, Nick Cannon and Gabriel Aubry. But given Kanye’s recent troubles, this could be a bad sign — especially since now that he and Kim are having a baby, in the public mind he’ll be linked to her for the rest of their lives. And even if they don’t stay together long-term, between the pregnancy, the upcoming season of Kourtney & Kim Take Miami (which he’ll appear in) and their potential televised wedding, he’ll still be associated with her for the next few months. But maybe he just doesn’t care about public opinion: Even with all the negative publicity he’s gotten for dating Kim, they’re still together, he’s still appearing in her family’s “reality” shows, the pregnancy was reportedly planned and they’re allegedly planning to marry once her divorce from Kris is finalized. So maybe he doesn’t care what impact their relationship has on his popularity and career — and since his net worth is supposedly around $90 million, he doesn’t have to care either, because he’s set for life.

What do you think? Is the “Kardashian Curse” real? Will Kim Kardashian and Kanye West make good parents? Sound off in the comments!
