Will Peyton Manning or Eli Manning Steal the Spotlight Opening Week?

The NFL loves linking family together when possible, and no two have it better than Eli Manning and Peyton Manning. Which élite quarterback will steal the show during the opening week of the 2012 season?

Peyton début with Denver Broncos heads Sunday Night Football list

No story was bigger during the offseason than the Hall of Fame quarterback Manning returning after getting released by the Indianapolis Colts. After a difficult process, the Denver Broncos put an end to the Tim Tebow experiment and welcomed the 36-year-old to Mile High. As the case has become for years, his mere presence on the team is already getting Denver noticed for primetime games. The first on the list is a fitting Sunday Night Football game that would introduce Peyton Manning in Denver colors to a worldwide audience. While the opponent stays a mystery for the time being, schedule makers are sure to make the game a high-drama matchup. Whether that’s Philip Rivers and the division rival San Diego Chargers, a team that has haunted Peyton for years, or Tom Brady and the New England Patriots won’t come to light until after the draft. However, is Peyton the real highlight of week one? Not if Big Apple fans have their say.

Eli and New York Giants get vengeful Tony Romo opening night

In most minds there is no greater start to the 2012 NFL season than watching Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys seek revenge against defending champion New York Giants and their leader, Eli Manning. Both teams fought two critical battles last season in which Manning led the G-men into the playoffs and on to their second title in four years. Those two losses in turn crushed the Cowboys’ hopes for a division title and put Romo back on the hot seat. A win would ease the pain from a year ago and perhaps give the embattled Dallas quarterback a breather from the constant doubters. All that back story fuels a highly anticipated rematch that’s sure to have a major impact on the NFC East division from the start.

Tim Tebow début with New York Jets is the dark horse

While Peyton Manning works with his new Denver Broncos teammates and Eli Manning makes ready for a second title defense, one name hasn’t gone away from the list of eager debuts. Fan favorite quarterback Tim Tebow will wear white and green of the New York Jets for the first time. Whether that’s enough to draw in viewers is unknown. Tony Romo won’t care, busying himself trying to help the Jets become the top team in New York, at least by NFL record. It should all make for a memorable opening week.
