Willow Smith, latest of the never-ending supply of the Smith family’s line of celebrities, is riding high with “Whip My Hair.” So high, in fact, that she delivered a rockin’ version of the song on Ellen.
The 10-year-old star begins her performance with a pretty decent take on Rihanna’s “Only Girl (In the World)” before seguing neatly into “Whip My Hair.”
DeGeneres joked that due to her neck movements in the song’s video, Smith will need a neck brace to keep from getting (more?) injured.
“Because you have such great style, I want to make sure that if you ever do hurt your head, that in style you can wear a neck brace around your neck,” DeGeneres said, presenting the youngster with a custom neck brace — something we could probably all use right about now.
Smith also took time to explain the song’s meaning: “It means… basically it’s the new ‘I’m me’.”
Righto! Whip it:
