Wiz Khalifa ‘Cabin Fever 2′ Mixtape Download Goes Double Platinum

It looks like the Wiz Khalifa “Cabin Fever 2″ mixtape download had plenty of fans getting the newest free online offering from the rap star. The compilation album was certified as double platinum by the Datpiff website just recently, after only a day of being available for download online.

Wiz’s new free mixtape was a followup to the previous “Cabin Fever,” and a prelude to his new album arriving in December. It seems like lots of fans were eager for some new material from the Taylor Gang rapper. The big news was reported on Datpiff’s Facebook page hours ago, as they posted a status update saying:

“Cabin Fever 2 was downloaded over 500,000 times and is now certified Double Platinum on DatPiff!”

That’s certainly an impressive feat for a mixtape that arrived just yesterday. Just for comparison’s sake, checking out the front page mixtapes available on Datpiff, the new Rick Ross “Black Bar Mitzvah” album has over 675k downloads, but has been out for at least a week. Other notable mixtapes on the site include the new Chris Webby, “Bars on Me,” which has nearly 140k downloads and Ransom’s “Winter’s Coming” with over 275k downloads.

It should be interesting to see if Khalifa overtakes Ross’ download numbers, but at this point it seems it shouldn’t be hard to do at all. The new Wiz Khalifa album arrives in early December, so this has to be a good sign for Wiz ahead of releasing “O.N.I.F.C.” to the masses.

Did you download the new Wiz Khalifa “Cabin Fever 2″ mixtape? If so, what did you think of the new material?
