Woody Allen Returns to Broadway with Ethan Coen and Elaine May

Woody Allen is returning to Broadway this fall. Woody will have a one-act play bundled together with one-act plays by Ethan Coen and Elaine May. John Turturro will be directing File:Woody Allen (2006).jpegthe bundle and it will be titled Relatively Speaking. The announcement was made on Tuesday. In September, Relatively Speaking is set to begin previews. In October, it will raise its curtains and the Broadway show will open to audiences.

There hasn’t been much in the media about Allen lately so it’s good to know that he’s still around. Despite all the fame he’s been able to obtain as a playwright, director and actor, the one thing that will forever haunt him is his indiscretions behind closed doors. It’s not that easy to forget that he cheated on Mia Farrow with their adopted daughter, whom he’s currently married to. Ewww.

Anyhow, this will be the second time that Allen has bundled a one-act play in such a way for Broadway. In 1995, his Death Defying Acts play was a collaboration and collective of one-act plays by him, David Mamet and Elaine May. It’ll be interesting to see if Woody Allen’s return to Broadway will be a success or a failure. One has to wonder if he’s still got it.
