WWE: Conversation With My Daughter

As most of you know, Angela broke her wrist just over a week ago. Well, she had the hard cast put on Monday afternoon (that’s a story unto itself). Her wrist is still bothering her quite a bit, especially since she’s trying to do too much still. German Convention is this weekend, so she’s been staying after school all week to work on the skit she is in. This makes for a very long school day. I didn’t pick her up today until 5:30 pm and we had to go straight to dance. This is how it went…

Me: How was school today?

Angela: Fine but my arm hurts and I’m starving (in her whiny voice)

Me: You’re not starving. There’s a snack and a drink right there for you.

Angela: That’s it? (sigh) Oh, I have to wear my uniform tomorrow. Yuck! Now everyone is going to see the cast.

Me: Captain and First Sargent haven’t seen it yet? How come? I know First Sarg knows you broke the wrist.

Angela: I’ve kept my hoodie on and the sleeves pulled way down. But tomorrow everyone is going to see it, and make comments.

Me: And you expected any different? What’s the problem?

Angela: Well, it’s going to stand out and not match. I’ve already gotten comments about it and the color.

Me: Oh, so in the immortal words of Kermit the Frog, “It’s not easy being green.”

Angela: MOM!

And she proceeded to stick her tongue out at me.

Me: Well, you had your choice of colors. And it could be worse, I could have tried to work in a different quote. Um, how about “To be or not to be” or “To infinity and beyond.”

Angela: You’re working on a writing thing again, aren’t ya?

Me: Yep. What do you think?

Angela: You need a life mom.
