The X Factor made some big changes following its first season in 2011, firing mentors Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger as well as host Steve Jones. But the changes the show made for its second season aren’t enough for some viewers, who are demanding yet another revamp!
According to Examiner, “all over the Internet” viewers have been “consistently demanding” five changes that they want to see before the show returns for its third season in 2013 — and they’re out for blood!
First up: “Most viewers” want co-host Khloe Kardashian to be fired because they think she’s “awkward and unprofessional.” This should be obvious, because Khloe is pretty wooden, which is unfortunate, because this is a format she should excel at given her personality and quick wit. But she’s never gotten the hang of it, so she should probably go (and spend more time on babymaking!). Viewers inexplicably haven’t been demanding the firing of fellow co-host Mario Lopez, but he’s terrible, so he should definitely get the boot too!
Khloe isn’t the only person fans apparently want fired: They don’t want mentors Britney Spears and Demi Lovato to return, either! According to Examiner, “most viewers” feel Britney is too “dull and robotic,” while Demi is too “bratty and inexperienced.” Britney could show some more personality because she obviously knows how to put on a show, but she confirmed in November that she’s returning for Season 3, so viewers are SOL. As for Demi, she can be a bit “bratty” (although that’s usually only in response to something bitchy Simon Cowell has said) but she’s not exactly “inexperienced” considering she’s already been in the entertainment industry for 13 years (although she did make some questionable song and makeover choices). So viewers might not get two new mentors next year.
Speaking of questionable song and makeover choices, fans want to see changes to those things next year, too: They don’t like “extreme makeovers” because they think the contestants look “uncomfortable and insincere,” and they want “contestants and viewers to have more say in the song choices.” The only people who really got “extreme makeovers” were CeCe Frey (who looked terrible) and Paige Thomas in Demi’s “Young Adults” group, although fellow Demi contestant Jennel Garcia publicly dissed her makeover after she got kicked off the show, so the fans might have a point there. But song choice input is a mixed bag: Although the viewers did a good job picking the contestants’ songs last week (and Simon said he liked the results so much that he wants to do it again), the contestants themselves have had less success choosing their own material (Fifth Harmony’s re-do of “Impossible” this week wasn’t great, and Paige was voted off after going against Demi’s wishes and singing “Never Gonna Give You Up”). So although viewers have some good ideas and producers could make some tweaks, there probably isn’t another major revamp in The X Factor‘s future.
What do you think? Should Britney Spears, Demi Lovato and Khloe Kardashian be fired? Should The X Factor stay the same? Sound off in the comments!
