Sucker Punch was originally going to be in theaters in 3D when it is released on March 25th of next year.  However, that’s no longer the case.  As popular as 3D movies have become, production studios have decided to nix that idea for certain films, including Sucker Punch and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I.

Deborah Snyder, wife to Sucker Punch director Zack, has told DigitalSpy why there will be no 3D version of the upcoming film: “Sucker Punch was supposed to be in 3D, but when we started working on [Legend Of The Guardians] and saw what it takes to pull off the 3D, how much planning goes into every shot, we realized that to convert Sucker Punch–it wasn’t shot that way–would be a mistake.”  However, it doesn’t seem like that’s going to ruin the experience of going to the movies to see the film, since Snyder has said that “the film is beautiful and very designed to begin with.”  Sucker Punch is about a girl who is in a mental institution and her way of dealing is to escape into another reality, which somehow also leads her to figure out how to escape from the hospital.  It stars Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Jena Malone, Vanessa Hudgens, and Jon Hamm.
